FOR KS2 ONLY!... If you are between the age of 7 and 11 years old then look no further for a brilliant, investigative DNA activity camp to fill your May Half Term holiday. Our main aim is always to have FUN!

Topic Summary - Dynamic DNA!
Trace the history of DNA research from the early discoveries to the wonderful work of Watson & Crick (it all happened here in Cambridge!)… Why is DNA so important? What can it tell us about humans and inheritance of features? We start our investigations right at the top with the whole human body and work our way down to DNA, via the route of organs, cells, molecules, atoms, chromosomes and genes….The students will learn that learn that each of us contains a “recipe” which controls what we look like – the “Recipe for Life”. So DNA analysis is a bit like following a recipe! The children will complete an Animal Cell Quiz, 'write their name' in DNA and make multiple representations of a DNA molecule – the cellular way! Then the children will go on to experiment by completing various DNA extractions - it's actually easier than it looks! We must now ask ourselves, what are the uses and benefits of DNA research? And what has history taught us? In a clever activity, we will make ourselves a ‘beaker baby’ and then play a game which traces multifactional inheritance. Then, finally, who will be crowned the DNA master in our rounding-up Dynamic DNA Quiz? earn all about how sound is made. Spend the day experimenting with our cool machines and toys, then make yourself a sound sandwich to take home!
